Children
We will have one of the largest children’s libraries in the country, where they can enjoy creative, noisy or quiet activities in exciting indoor and outdoor spaces.
A unique feature will be an outside children’s activity space designed for use by schools and families alike.
In addition to children’s picture books, stories and non fiction, a curriculum resource area will make it easy for parents and carers to help with the subjects their children are studying at school.
From using archives and archaeology to drama and story telling, children will be inspired to explore a whole range of subjects. We will make the Centre a popular destination for school visits with events, exhibitions and activities which also draw families and children on independent visits outside school hours.
In the History Centre, children will be able to take part in activities such as pot washing and quill writing to capture their imaginations of times gone by.
